                      (dān xiá shān 丹霞山), also called China Red Stone Park (zhōng guó hóng shí gōng yuán 中國紅石公園), is located in Shaoguan City (sháo guān shì 韶關市). It covers an area of 290 square kilometers, which? is one of the most famous mountains and regardes as the most beautiful scenery in Guangdong Province. Since 1988, Danxia Mountain has been successively appointed as National Scenic Spot, National Natural Protection Zone for Geology and Geomorphology in China, Grade AAAA National Tourist Spot, and National Geological Park of China.

                      Danxia MountainThe highest peak of Danxia Mountain is 409 meters, it’s neither the highest nor the biggest mountain while compared to the famous mountains. However, it combines the rare of Mt. Huangshan (huáng shān 黃山), the sharp of Mt. Huashan (huá shān 華山) and the beauty of Guilin (guì lín 桂林). The scenic spot can be divided into the upper, middle, lower levers and Jinjiang (jǐn jiāng 錦江) scenic area, Xianglong Lake Danxia Mountain(xiáng lóng hú 翔龍湖) and Yangyuan Mountain (yáng yuán shān 陽元山). There are three peaks in the upper lever, the center of middle lever is Biezhuan Temple (bié zhuàn sì 別傳寺) and the lower lever Jinshi Rock (jǐn shí yán 錦石巖). When monk Dangui (dàn guī 澹歸) opened up the Biechuan Temple in Danxia Mountain 300 years ago, he picked out twelve sceneries, namely twelve sceneries in Danxia (dān xiá shí èr jǐng 丹霞十二景), including Jin Shui Tan Sheng (jǐn shuǐ tān shēng 錦水灘聲), Yu Tai Shuang Qi?(yù tái shuǎng qì 玉臺爽氣), Jie Ge Chen Zhong (jié gé chén zhōng 杰閣晨鐘), Dan Ti Tie Suo (dān tī tiě suǒ 丹梯鐵索), Duo Shi Zhao Xi (duò shí cháo xī 舵石朝曦), Zhu Po Yan Yu (zhú pō yān yǔ 竹坡煙雨), Shuang Zhao Bi He (shuāng zhǎo bì hé 雙沼碧荷), Ru Quan Chuan Liu (rǔ quán chūn liū 乳泉春溜), Lei Ding Fu Tu (lèi dǐng fú tú 累頂浮圖), Hong Qiao Yong Cui (hóng qiáo yōng cuì 虹橋擁翠), Pian Lin Qiu Yue (piàn lín qiū yuè 片鱗秋月).

                      Danxia MountainThere are more than 680 various stone peaks, stone fortresses, walls, pillars and stone bridges in the scenic area. The stones have been formed over the eons by nature, most of them take the shape of the human body, birds and even animals. The Yangyuan Rock (Male Organ), Yinyuan Rock (Female Organ), Wangfu Rock (wàng fū yá 望夫崖) (Longing for Husband to Return)? and Longlin Rock are regarded as the ''Four Danxia MountainBeauties of Danxia Mountain''.The numerous stones and peaks are rhythmically interspersed among the scenic spot which makes a sculpture garden of red sandstone rocks. Set against the blue sky, white clouds, jade waters, green trees and the colorful algae, the mountain becomes a picturesque painting.

                      The mountain is not only with beautiful landscapes, it is also rich in biological resource. Danxia Mountain has a temperate climate and fully rain, so there are various of plants in it, especially semitropics evergreen broad-leaved forest. Experts say that the number of famous trees whose age were above 100 is twenty-eight, the trees whose age were above 300 is fourteen. The phoenix tree in Danxia is the most famous flower in the world, it has many types, such as goering cymbidium (chūn lán 春蘭), Cymbidium kanran (hán lán 寒蘭), Michelia alba (bái lán 白蘭), Cymbidium sinense (mò lán 墨蘭), Cymbidium faberi (huì lán 蕙蘭) and so on.

                      There are more than 80 sites of cavern temple including the Biechuan Buddhist Temple, where scholars and writers created many legends, stories, poems and petroglyph with great historic and cultural value.
